When I was working on my hankie quilt Wild Thing, I got a few requests for pillows from different people. Kim asked about a Hankie Pillow and Barb wanted a Holding Pillow for a friend. Judy sent me some fabric after asking if I could make two pillows using it. And Stacey asked if I could make her something using the hankie with the purple crocheted butterfly on it, which I posted on my blog recently.
This morning I started to make Judy’s pillows. But when I had to wait for the fabric to dry after washing it, I began working on the Hankie Pillow for Kim.
I sorted through my hankies and after using them to make three quilts and three pillows, I now have mostly plain hankies with crocheted edges, white hankies with lace edges and some printed hankies that I will use at some point to make scarves.
I only have a small selection of embroidered hankies left. I hope to use them too, although I’m not sure how I will yet, I love the idea of them being out in the world instead of hanging around in a bin in my studio.
For Kim’s Hankie Pillow, I had enough hankies with crocheted or lacy corners to make them meet in the middle of the pillow.
Then I folded, trimmed and sewed more hankies to make the rest of the pillow.
I finished Kim’s pillow today and will get back to Judy’s Pillows tomorrow.

That is just lovely!
