I found the bone in the woods last week. I find lots of bones in the woods, I just don’t usually bring them home (Zinnia does too, but she eats them). Yet, there was something about this one that made me want to keep it. For a while anyway.
It’s part of a deers spine, but I’m not sure which part, the top or bottom.

The crinkly line where the bone comes together reminds me of the curves and curls that yarn has when it’s unraveled from something that’s been crocheted or knit. It’s a river from far above and two puzzle pieces coming together.

Someone chewed on the bone, leaving long teeth marks, getting much needed minerals, or sharpening their teeth.

Today I put the bone on the table on the back porch, where Jon takes his flower photos and took pictures of it. Zip joined me, sometimes chewing on the bone or playing with it.
So I took his picture with the bone too.

what a shot with his nose and mouth surrounded by bone – as though burrowing through a tunnel!
A little molecat.
Ha! I can see Zip doing that to catch a mouse or rat for sure!
