Sheep Shearing Postponed

Lori

We postponed shearing the sheep.  It rained all last night and a good part of today.

The sheep have to be dry and fast for at least 12 hours before shearing.  That meant putting them in the barn last night. But we didn’t want to leave the donkeys out in the rain, so they had to be in the barn with the sheep.

The sheep have to fast, but the donkeys need to eat and they can’t be in the barn while shearing.

We tried to figure out the best way to feed the donkeys and keep them from being out in the rain too long,  but it was simpler to just shear the sheep another day.

So Ian will come on Tuesday.

Tomorrow I’ll let the sheep out to graze for the first time on the spring grass. By next week their wool should be free of hay.

It seems to have all worked out for the best.
