It’s that Hankie Scarf time of year.
I’m wearing mine, one I made with printed hankies when I first started making Vintage Hankies Scarves and one that I painted a few years ago. My neck gets cold when the rest of me isn’t and this time of year, my light weight Hankie Scarves are just right. And they look good too.
On Friday, I washed and ironed all the printed hankies I had left in my stash.

Today I laid them all out on my floor according to their sizes then stared designing and sewing them together.

When I was done I had eight lengths of hankies and just a few hankies left over. I paired the lengths with each other to make four Vintage Hankie Scarves.

To finish the Scarves, I’ll lay the two lengths of Vintage Hankies face to face and sew them down the middle. This makes for an curious combination of colors and prints. I love the mystery of how they turn out. I have a good idea, but I’m never quite certain what the two sides will look like, how they will fall and drape, once they are sewn together.
This way of layering and sewing them gives the lightweight scarves some volume.
I’ll finish sewing these Vintage Hankie Scarves together tomorrow and put them up for sale in my Etsy Shop. They are $70 each + $7 shipping.
