My Picture Of The Day

The Barn Swallows are so quick and haven’t learned to trust me yet.  By the end of the summer they’ll be ignoring me as I muck out the barn and take pictures of their babies in the nest.

It was after shearing yesterday and the light wasn’t great, but I was able to get my first picture of the season of this barn swallow in one of last years nests.

It brings me great joy that they are back.  I suppose because they are a reassuring constant in an uncertain world.

  1. The swallows have returned to my house too! And I’m so happy about their constant return… There’s something magical about their journey, something reassuring and joyful. I agree with you, Maria.

    1. I love to hear how other people wait for different birds to arrive and how they feel about them coming back or even when they don’t. It is amazing to think how far they fly and how they keep at it!

  2. I love this: reassuring constant in an uncertain world. fits perfectly with how I feel when around and/or observing animals. We have a Robin who made her nest above our light fixture next to our front door. Brings me so much comfort knowing she is there.

    1. I love how some birds are so trusting of us humans Barb. I find the same with animals, I look to them and their accepting ways.
