My Kitten Hankie scarf is made up of 14 different Vintage Hankies. Across from the kitten hankie is a ballerina hankie. The little girl in me couldn’t help putting the two together in the same scarf.

I named this colorful scarf after the hankie from the Swiss Home Economic Service that is in it. I’m not sure what the Swiss Home Economic Service is, but, from the hankie, I imagine they provided information about healthy eating.
This scarf also has a Lufthansa Equator hankie. I read that they were a souvenir the airline gave away in the 1950s and 60s.

I looked back on my blog to see if I could find when I made my first Vintage Hankie Scarves. I think it was in 2013. It’s hard to believe I’ve been making Hankie Scarves for thirteen years. I couldn’t have done it without so many of you sending me your hankies to live a second life.
I still have lots of white hankies with beautifully crocheted edges, and many with lace. I’m looking forward to figuring out how the use them as well.
And soon I’ll be using the many children’s hankies I have to make a quilt for Chris.

The horse hankie scarf would be perfect for a Kentucky Derby party which is always the first Saturday in May, and the Lily of the Valley one of the flowers of May. What a delightful scarf!
