I went for a walk in the woods and took my camera so I could take pictures of the wildflowers and show them to you.

None of the flowers I saw were rare and some were so common, I almost passed them by.

When I looked at the picture I took of the garlic mustard, I was able to see it differently than the plant I pluck from our pasture so it doesn’t take over, which it will, if given the chance. The tiny white flowers are as sculptural as zinnia’s and its leaf like a flame of green fire.

And some were not flowers at all… like this salamander hiding under a leaf.

…or this weathered moss covered tree root, like a dancer in the woods.

I saw my first columbine of the year, growing right in the middle of the path.

Rue Anemone was growing in the moss that covers the trunk of a tall oak tree.
At first I thought it was another Wood Anemone, but when I took a closer look, I noticed the leaf was a very different shape. The flower petals and stamen are different too, but that took me even longer to see.

I was delighted to see the long, thick speckled legs of a wolf spider when I looked into the hole in this pine tree. It quickly retreated further into the tree before I could get a picture.
But I’ll look for the wolf spider again the next time I walk this path.

Love them all, the tree root, I saw dancer before I saw your description☺️
Thanks, I’m not surprised you saw the dancer DawnMarie.:) Such an elegant tree root. I’ve been seeing it for years, but was never able to get a good picture of it.
