Long before I sit down to meditate the sun is up over the trees. I had forgotten how much it could warm me. How it makes me want to sit in its glow even longer.
Everything is softer now.
Waves of green grass, the hardened winter bones of the trees rounded with tiny, translucent leaves and delicate white, yellow and pink buds.
The bird song is softer too.
For months mostly I heard the bluejays, ringing and warning. Now the songs of so many more birds are blurred together.
At the end of the winter I’m always a little sad knowing I’ll miss the winter trees. As if, bare, I can see them more clearly, for who they really are.
Somehow I forget how tender, even vulnerable the spring trees seem.
Being among the spring trees smooths my edges. It softens my heart, sleeps my eyes and calms the rivers inside of me.

I will share the last line of this post with sweet friends who will be moved and inspired by these words like I am.
I appreciate that Carol. :)
