Jon and I sat under the apple tree this morning watching the birds and enjoying the warm sun. The Starlings never stopped going back and forth to the birch tree bringing worms for the babies.
Every time they did, the cries from the nest in the hole in the tree got louder.
I took this picture of one of the Starlings going to the nest with a worm in her mouth.
Barb left this message on my blog…
“When we were getting a nail removed from our tire, sitting in the car waiting, my husband and I took great delight at watching the sparrows
gather twigs. They’d then fly up to the large sign overhead sitting on metal posts and in between the sign and posts they were building nests. Best $20 we ever spent!”
As much as we humans build and try to cover over the natural world, it always peeks through. There is wildness all around us, in the cities and suburbs too. All we have to do is look, see, listen and have a little patience.
I still have a few of my Starling and the Paper Birch Potholders available. You can see them and buy them here.
