I was wondering where the frogs were and today I heard them when I let the animals out to graze.
I walked along the edge of the pond in the back pasture looking for them. Careful as I was I didn’t see the frog until it jumped in the water.
Then I saw them both. One mostly submerged in the water surrounded by her eggs. The other, the one that jumped, was about a foot away.

I watched them for at least 15 minutes, taking pictures and videos and they never moved, which I thought was odd. It made me wonder if the female was laying the eggs she was surrounded by.
I could tell the second frog was a male because he had a throat sac. He didn’t make a sound, but I could see it pulsing under his chin.

They laid their eggs in the same place in the pond last year. I guess it worked out well. Last year I saw the tadpoles when they were tiny, maybe this year I’lll get lucky and see them hatching.

Absolutely love the photos!
Thanks Barb!
