I didn’t have time for a walk in the woods today, so I went to the back pasture to see what I could see.
Looking along the fence for the bloodwort(they haven’t bloomed yet) I found instead a tuft of wool caught on the fence. I’d guess it was from Merricat, before she was shorn, sticking her head under the fence to eat something on the other side.
I saw two garter snakes, this one stayed long enough for me to get a picture, tongue and all.
This bush, with creamy flowers and sage leaves, goes by many names, Autumn Olive and Umbellata Oleaster are two of them. I’ve been told they’re invasive, but we have only two of them and I find them very beautiful.
When I got back Zip was lounging on the chair under the apple tree. He gave me a big yawn, like a lion showing off his fangs.
