Every morning I let the dogs out the back door to do their business. I stand in the fenced in yard, watching them. When they poop, I scoop it up and toss it over the fence into the pasture.
But today, I saw the snail on the blade of grass, a ray of morning sun lighting it up like a little bulb. So I abandoned my pooper scooper and went back to the house to get my camera.
I kneeled down in the dewy grass and took so many pictures of the snail. The one above was my favorite.

Inspired, I thought small and took a picture of foam on a blade of grass.
I’ve seen foam on grass before, but never thought much about it. Yet when I saw at my photo, I got curious and looked into it.
It seems the foam isn’t coming from the grass at all. It’s made by a spittlebug. The spittlebug drinks sap from the grass and because it’s mostly water there’s a lot of “excess fluid”. So the spittlebug uses its tail to toss the water, creating foam, which it covers itself in for protection, while it eats.
I should stop here, because I really can’t top the spittlebug.
But I do have more pictures from this morning so here they are…

The drying seedless head of a dandelion.

A very complex spiders web beaded with sunlight and dew.

Fanny is far from small, but like the pasture an all of us is made up of very small parts coming together to create the whole.

Ohhhhhhhhh how I love this one! You show the beauty of life and how we are all connected! Thank you!
YEs, Fran, That’s what I’m thinking more and more. That connection how we are so much a part of nature and how we have distanced ourselves.
Wow. The spider web is my favorite out of this group of photos. So beautiful and intricate. I wonder if the spider is in a meditative state as it’s weaving.
I like to hear that Sandy. It’s not the typical spider web, but it has so many layers creating spaces. It would seem that it could be meditative to me Sandy, although I have no idea how a spider thinks. I can also imagine the spider in a hurry to get it done so they could eat. :)
