Black and gold Joanne asked for when she emailed me that she’d like a Meditation Mat. Just like the Holding Pillow I made for her last year, that was black and gold too.
I don’t have a lot of black and gold fabric. But I did have a black and gold batik that I bought when I was in India, almost ten years ago.
So this is why I bought that piece of fabric in India and why I saved it for so long.
After finding the batik, I went to my scraps.
The first two pieces of fabric I sewed together were the wheat and the gold and black scrap beneath it (to the left in the picture above) Then I pieced together some scraps around fabric inspired by the artist Gustave Klimt (to the right).
It was only after that that I found the black and gold waves in a box of fabric that Chris sent me.
Now I have two parts of the black and gold Meditation Mat for Joanne. Tomorrow I will figure out how they go together.
