Going To The Wild Center Tomorrow

The baby barn swallows have hatched

Tomorrow I’m going to The Wild Center, in the Adirondacks  with my friend Jackie.  I’d never heard of it before she told me about it, but it sounds like an interesting place.  It’s  dedicated to people and nature living and thriving together.

We’re  going to visit the center, but also  we’ll be bringing with us a tree frog that Jackie took in last winter when it came in on one of her plants.   Jackie wanted to let the frog go this spring, but it was a baby when she found it and was concerned it wouldn’t know how to survive in nature.

Jackie has been in touch with the people at The Wild Center  and they are  happy to have the frog to be part of their educational program.

There’s  a tree top walk that I’m especially looking forward to and lots of information about animals and the science of the Adirondacks.  There is also a Troll exhibit that sounds impressive.  Huge sculptures by artist Thomas Dambo, made from reclaimed materials.

I’m not really sure what to expect, although Braeden, who comes to the farm to brush the donkeys and help out on Tuesdays, was there just last week and he and his grandmother Terry, had a great time.

I’ll take some pictures and let you know all about it.

  1. How cool…I follow the Wild Center on Facebook, and would love to get there someday. And, you’ll absolutely love the Dambo trolls. We’ve seen seven so far. Five at the Botanical Garden in Boothbay, Maine, and two of the five in Rhode Island. They make me even more proud of my Danish heritage. :)

    1. I got to see two of them Dot, and the Wild Center was lots of fun. We didn’t get to do all the trails, but will probably go back again sometime.
