In 2023 someone sent me a sketch book which I named My Leave Some Space Book.
I did my first drawing in it on December 23, 2023. It took me about a month to decide I wanted my drawings to have some empty space around them.
Since then I used the book to do drawings that were mostly inside the house, although it has a few drawings from other places too. Like all my sketch books, it has, in a way, become a visual diary.
Today I took My Leave Some Space Book outside and using the last two pages and the back cover, I did three drawings of the back porch.
The first and last drawing broke my self imposed rule of leaving some space. And instead of using a black sharpie as I did in the rest of the book, I used a brown pen. (Because Jon just bought a pack of colored pens and I like the way the brown looks and feels to draw with).
I always have more than one sketch book I work in at time. Unlike all my other art, which goes out into the world, I do keep my sketch books.
I don’t usually look at my old work, but if I do, they bring me right back to the time I did the drawings.
I like these drawing very much.
I’m thinking about the drawings I could do in my numerous sketch books. Perhaps your drawings will move me to do that!

I very much like the brown pen.
It has in a way an archival feel to it.
Are they just regular colored pens?

They are DawnMarie, just a cheap pack of pens. I was surprised how nicely they write. I like that about the brown too. :)
