Asher and Kim were the first to chew on the new mineral block I put in the barn for the animals. The mineral block and salt block help supplement the sheep and donkeys diet. It’s like us humans taking vitamins. It helps to keep them healthy.
Tomorrow Jon and I will take 12 bags of wool to NobleTown Fiber Works.
I had Asher and Issachar shorn in the both the spring and fall and their wool is so short, I’m not sure that Lew will be able to process it.
If not I’ll have another creative challenge on my hands. I’m already starting to think about what I might do with it. I’m hoping he’ll still be able to at least make it into roving.
I also have a few bags of junk wool to send out to be made into Wool Pellets.
This year I used some in my garden and I can see how well they help retain moister. This fall I plan on using a pound of them to help replenish the soil in my vegetable garden.
I’ll hope to have the yarn and roving back from my sheep in February. (Although it’s such a beautifully warm summer day today I can’t even imagine February!)
