Once I cut a few inches from the sides of NightSky, it hummed along.
I gathered up the few scraps of fabric with the sparkly plants, moon and stars and kept adding them to the piece until it was the right size. That blue fabric that Chris sent in her box of material was just right to balance all the busy patterns.

I got a few clouds (those triangles at the top) in the piece. A reminder that the stars are always there even if we can’t see them. And some flowers to ground us on the earth.
Because as much as our heads may be in the stars, the place we began, in this life, our feet are on the earth.

When I got the top all done, I went looking for the backing.
I’m using heavier fabrics for the backs, since they will be on the ground, inside or out. The deep blue, speckled with flowers that reminded me of stars, is a lightweight upholstery fabric.
Just right for the back of NightSky.
Tuesdays are my busy days away from the studio, volunteering at the Cambridge Food Pantry, working with Braeden in the afternoon and Yin Yoga in the evening. But I’ll get to my studio early and hopefully finish the cushion for NightSky.

Often when I look at your mats I’ll recognize a fabric that I once had in my stash and maybe remember what I used it for. It’s fun, kind of like a game to see what I can remember.
Oh I love that LoisJean. It’s that circling round connection between us all.
