I don’t often ask for blog support, and I so appreciate everyone who already gives me monthly donations from $1 to $50. I also appreciate and depend on all of you who buy my art, I couldn’t be doing what I do without you.
Along with making my art and selling it on my blog, my creativity has morphed into writing, photography and videos.
It’s that part of my work that I’m asking for support today.
I love what I do and am fortunate to be able to do it. But it takes time and work to take those pictures of mushrooms as I walk in the woods and record and translate the the words that come to me during my daily meditations.
I began my blog, almost 20 years ago, as a way to sell my art. Art that I have always made from repurposed fabric. Fabric that over the years, so many of you have been generous enough to send me. This helps me keep my costs down so my work is affordable, as well as preventing all that fabric from ending up in the garbage.
Over the years my writing, photography and videos have become as much a part of my art as what I create in my studio.
It’s just a different kind of creativity. And all the varied mediums feed each other.
I never go with Jon to a doctor’s appointment without my sketchpad. And it’s only on Saturday, my online Sabbath, that I don’t take my iPhone or camera into the barnyard or woods.
My art is my life and my life is my art.
