Ah Maria, the title of your meditation, “The Cathedral of the Woods” opened up precious but also very bittersweet memories for me. My best friend and I spent many hours over the years studying native botany in many woods. We would refer to our walks as being in “The Cathedral of the Woods”!! She died some years ago and the woods have never been the same without her. Beautiful yes…but never the same. Your title caught my breath!
I’m very sorry for the loss of your friend and the woods that went with her when she died. Both precious and bittersweet, to hold both at one time is not an easy thing. It sounds like a wonderful friendship, something from a novel. Those words just came to me as I was walking, like they were floating around in the woods.
