The envelopes sit in a pile on the dining room table, waiting for whatever is next for them. Some of the notes, cards and invoices inside of them need a reply, a “thank you” maybe or a check.
Sometimes I find myself waiting as they do, for the awful music to end and a real person to pick up the phone, or for Jon when he’s just finishing up posting a picture or writing a piece and lunch is on the table.
It’s in those in-between moments that the waiting stops for both me and the envelope. When I pick up a pen and start to draw.
Some of my envelope drawings get tossed in the recycling bin, others land between the pages of my sketch pad.

Your drawings are amazing. There is always a surprise in them. They give me a moment to reflect. Thank you, Maria!♥️
Oh, I love to hear that Fran. Thank you!
