I still have a few Garden Party Potholders for sale. I just put them in my Etsy Shop today.
But today felt like a Potholder day to me. So I searched my scraps but this time I didn’t find a piece of fabric that inspired me, instead the idea of Sacred Spaces came to me.
Those safe places where we go to be alone, maybe in the woods or a back yard or even a room in the the house.
As a kid I was always searching for the those spaces, the corner of a room behind a piece of furniture, or under the low hanging branches of a tree in the yard, a break of blue sky in the clouds.
The places that seemed forgotten yet somehow magical.
But I was also thinking of the sacred space inside ourselves. That place where I know I can go, if I close my eyes and am still for a while. Sometimes I find it in my heart, other times lower down in my belly.
Surrounded by the rag rag of color and pattern, the sacred space is a calm place to go in the small quilts that are my Potholders.
