My Meditation Mat “Mist”, All Done and Sold

Mist is Sold.

I finished my “Mist” Meditation Mat today.

The border that I was looking for came from a long pieced of fabric with a complicated pattern.  It fades from the pinkish-purple that I used, to pale pink and green. I cut a strip from the fabric that worked just right for “Mist.”

I took some pictures along the way as I worked on it.  Above is the front and back next to each other.

I’ve learned to sign the front before sewing it to the back which makes it so much easier…

I also learned to sew one set of velcro on before the front and back are sewn together.  The second set has to be sewn on after to make sure they line up just right.

I forgot to take pictures of making the five-layered batting cushion that goes inside the mat.  That is my least favorite part of the whole process, but I’m getting better at it.

It may take a while, but I do learn as I go.

In the picture above Mist is all done and I’m ironing it.  Like I said yesterday, no ironing board is necessary, the layers of batting become the ironing board.

My friend Kat is buying Mist.  I don’t know if I would have thought to choose this backing if I didn’t know she wanted it. But she is a lover of animals, especially the wild ones. And the color actually work really well together.

I made sure to include the tigers, an appreciation of big (and small) cats is something we share.
