I started working on a new Meditation Mat today. I had sewn the orange sari fabric (which I got when I was in India) around the dragonflies a while ago. But I couldn’t figure out how to use them.
So I tried again and this time something came of them.
They were so serious, those dragonflies, so Victorian. It would have been easy to go in that direction, I had the surrounding fabric all picked out.
But once I put it next to the dragonflies, everything inside of me screamed “No!”
So I brought them to a brighter place. Thinking of the dragonflies I see skimming the surface of the pond in the back pasture. Hunting mosquitos, while their wings glisten like stained glass in the sunlight.
I’m not done yet, my Dragonfly Meditation Mat still needs a thin border. I’m thinking an orangey-yellow, but I’ll know for sure tomorrow.
