My Meditation Quilt, “A Million Suns and Fallen Stars”

A Million Suns and Falling Stars

Most of the leaves were still on the trees and I never really noticed how much they had faded from the deep summer green until that moment.  The light in the woods was so different than the last time I walked there just a few days before.   It was striking.  I had to bring it to my work.

That’s what I wrote to the person who is buying A Million Suns and Falling Stars my latest Meditation Mat.

It shouldn’t, but it still surprises me how much my art is influenced by the seasons and the natural world around me.  It’s not something I think about, it just happens and I’ve come to trust it.

That piece of fabric with the yellows, oranges and pale greens along with the trees hills, and deer, was perfect to reflect what I saw and felt walking in the woods that day.

The rest came quickly.

(Thanks for Lois for the pants she found at a yard sale.  I expected to use them with the rest of the fabric she sent me, but one leg was obviously meant for a Million Suns and Falling Stars.)

I have a nice new roll of batting, it costs a bit more but is thicker so I can use less of it.  I’m cutting the four layers of batting to go inside the cover I made.  That will be the cushion for  “A Million Suns and Falling Stars.”
