My Heron Magnets Are For Sale In My Etsy Shop Again

My Heron Magnet for Sale in my Etsy Shop.   It’s is 2 1/4″x 4″ and is $7 including shipping. You can buy it here.

When I made my Heron fabric painting last summer I was inspired by two different herons.  The green heron that made a lookout of the stand of trees on the edge of the farm and the great blue heron who fished in our pond.

The symbolism of the heron was a big part of why I was drawn to create this piece and as I think of it today it still holds powerful meaning for me.  Although I have come to see that people have many different reasons for heron being important in their lives.

For me, Heron represents finding my own path through life and my ability to stand on my own. It’s about looking inward to find the answers that are right for me,  not looking to what others say and do.  It’s about being able to evolve into my true self.

It’s because the Heron is an important symbol to me and so many other people find the Heron has meaning in their lives that I decided to make more of my Heron Magnets.

Amy, who bought one of my Heron Magnets told me that she doesn’t own many things by choice, but she was glad that I reproduced my Heron on a magnet because it was small and inexpensive which fit in with her lifestyle.

I love that idea, and as much as I want and need to sell my art because it’s how I make a living, I also like that people don’t have to buy it at all if they can’t afford it or don’t want to live with it.  They can always just look at it on my blog.

My Heron Magnets are $7 including shipping.  They are 2 1/4″x4″ you can buy them here.

And if you prefer not to use Etsy, you can buy anything in my Etsy Shop by emailing me at [email protected].  I take checks, PayPal, and Venmo.

My Heron Poster In A Frame

Kathye sent me this picture of my Heron poster that she had framed at The Image Loft in Manchester Vermont.

Jon and I have known Carolyn who owns the Image Loft for years, so it was nice to get a “hello” from her in Kathye’s email along with getting to see how the poster turned out. I love that little hint of orange on the inside edge of the frame.

I always enjoy seeing how people choose to hang my art, whether framed or not.

Sending Off My Herons

Fate went with me to the Postoffice

I didn’t think it would take most of the day for me to get the Heron posters, postcards and magnets ready for the postoffice, but as I worked the orders kept coming in. (Thank you all)

So many people have told me their Heron stories.  These are birds that touch a lot of us often in a mystical way.

I wish I had more time to write, but I have to get ready for Bellydancing in just a bit.  I am looking forward to class though.  It will be good for my brain and my body to be so focused in one direction.

And I always learn something.

Last week I was taught how to make some necessary adjustments when doing the very first move I ever learned, the Taxeem.  I’m always rushing it, I need to learn to slow down, which, as in life, is not always easy for me.

A Day Of Mailing Heron Magnets

I did not get to my studio today and I did not take a walk in the woods, although it would have been a beautiful day for it.

But I Heron’s to get into the mail.

I was upstairs in the office/guestroom packing up a hundred Heron magnets.  I didn’t get them all done, and I won’t today because soon I’ll be off to my Bellydancing Class. But I will finish them tomorrow and get them in the mail.

I am surprised and very happy that so many people connected to my Heron enough to want a 2″x4″ magnet of it for themselves and to give to some of the people in their lives.

After selling out of the magnets in just 24 hours, I did buy some more.  I think there are probably people who wanted them and didn’t get them.  I also think they will make nice gifts for the upcoming holidays.

So I’ll have more Heron magnets to sell on Tuesday. And I thank you all for liking and wanting my Heron the way you do.

My Heron Magnets Sold Out

Thank you everyone, I just sold out of my Heron Magnets.

It’s been 24 hours since they went up for sale in my Etsy Shop.  That tells me that I should order more.

I love that my Heron will be showing up in people’s homes and lives in this way.  I hope to get my posters and postcards soon too.

More Herons are on the way.

My Heron Magnets Coming Tomorrow

My Heron magnet

I’m excited to see my Heron Magnet. According to an email from Sticker Mule, it should be delivered tomorrow.

I got a hundred of them, so there will be plenty for anyone who wants one.  As soon as I get them I’ll put them up for sale in my Etsy Shop and on my blog.

I’m also waiting for my Heron Posters and Postcards.  We’re lucky enough to have a Print Shop right in town who do a great job.  I hope to have the posters and postcards by the end of the week.

Making My Heron Poster and Postcards

My Heron Poster will be 11″x17″

This morning sent the pdf’s for my Heron posters and postcards to our local printers.  Sara Kelly and I worked on the colors and she sized them and made them print ready.

It will be a week or two before I get them.  I’ll also be making magnets of my Heron.  All of these will be for sale in my Etsy Shop or directly from me on my blog.

A lot of people have told me that they think my Heron is a step forward for me. I’m having a hard time seeing that.  But I understand that I may need some distance from it to see it clearly.

This evening as Jon and I drove home from getting dinner a Great Blue Heron flew over the car. Heron keeps showing up.

My Heron postcards will be 4″x6″ and I’ll sell them in packs of six.

My Heron

Heron

The afternoon light streamed through my open studio door and lit up my Heron.

It was good timing, I was coming to take a picture of the finished piece.  I left the lights off to allow the soft natural light do what it does.

My Heron stands grounded on the earth.  Her legs deep in water.  Ted Andrews writes about Heron, “The longer the legs, the deeper the water the heron can feed in.  The deeper life can be explored.”

It was Andrews’s book Animal Speak that I went to, to find the meaning of Heron when I decided to make one.

It’s there I read that the Green Heron, the kind that I watched fly over the farm as a juvenile this summer, has orange legs.   But there is also a great Blue Heron that fishes in our pond and marsh.

So I gave my Great Blue Heron orange legs and blue/green feathers.

Andrews writes that heron people “follow their own path.” “It is not a structured way and does not seem to have a stability or security to it.”  But security comes in their “ability to do a variety of tasks. If one doesn’t work another will.”

They don’t do what is expected, but “follow their own innate wisdom and path of self-determination.”

Reading about heron I saw some of myself and some of what I hope to embrace even more.  It felt like an affirmation.

I understand that people find different meanings in Heron.  And those meanings often vary depending on culture.   I know I was drawn to heron to discover something about myself as well as share it with all of you.

In some ways, I’m too close to this piece.  I feel like I can’t really see it.

So I’m glad I’ll be making reproductions of it.  Not only so more people can have the image, besides Kathy who bought the original,  but so that it can continue to speak to me and remind me of its significance in my own life.
