They were small but important parts of table runners, pillowcases, aprons and hankies. The space around them was stained, torn or worn. So I cut them out and made them into potholders.
My potholders are a small but important piece of functional art to take pleasure in each time you use it to take a hot pot off the stove or a hot pan out of the oven.
They’re made with vintage and contemporary fabric. Fabric that someone gave me ten years ago, fabric that someone gave me just last week, fabric that I brought back from India. One person’s old jeans someone else’s mother’s aprons.
I hope you enjoy using them as much as I enjoy making them.
