Thank you all for your birthday wishes. It was so nice to hear from you all.
I didn’t do much yesterday for my birthday, mostly just hung around and read while Jon rubbed my feet (I can’t think of a better way to spend the day). We also had an early dinner at The Depot restaurant in town.
But before that I went for a walk. Even though we’ve had snow since November, it’s the first time it’s deep enough for snowshoes.
Fate and Zinnia plowed ahead as we walked through our neighbors cornfield and over the frozen marsh to a part of the steam that I can only get to in the winter.

It was below zero, but the sun was warm and there were plenty of animals tracks to follow. Most were obscured by the wind blown snow, so I couldn’t make out who they might belong to. But it was still a treat to see so many signs of winter life.
The walk was just long enough to make me want to sit around for the rest of the day and do nothing but enjoy it.

Happy Birthday, Maria! Sorry this may be late, but my power went off last Sunday morning and I was just able to return home yesterday. (We had snow, but it was the lot of ice that caused trees to crash and hit transformers.) Hope you celebrated hugely!
Oh I’m so glad you’re back home and the power is back on for you Kaaren. Thanks for your good wishes.
A perfect birthday.
:)
A beautiful way to spend your special day. Wishing you health and peace and prosperity in the coming year.
:)
Zinnia looks to be swimming in an ocean of snow.
It is almost like swimming Georgette!
The photo of Zinnia in the cornfield is so striking. My eyes are drawn to so many things: the regularity of the cornstalks and how they reach to the horizon, Zinnia’s shadow, her path through the snow, the clouds. Perfect.
Thank you Sandy. :) What a lovely description. You made me see more in the photo than I had.
