It came together quickly today, but I can’t say it was easy. I began a new Meditation Mat sometime last week between finishing Night Quiet and my Sacred Space Potholders.

I began with three pieces, thinking they might fit together somehow, then discovering they just didn’t. Then it was a matter of deciding which one to focus on.
That’s a napkin with a embroidered star or sun in the middle of it that cut off an old tablecloth. I like the idea of making a cloth napkin and table cloth into a Meditation Mat.
I did a lot of work sewing strips of fabric around that piece, like a spider spins a web. But when I got it all done, it just didn’t work. So I cut off the top and bottom and once I did, things flowed.
I don’t have a name for this Meditation Mat yet, but I’m sure it will come to me. The colors are electric, red, orange, yellow, the first three Chakras, they seem to pulse, and I can’t help smiling when I look at it.
I still have to make the backing and cushion for the inside. It is for sale.

The pieces I cut off the top and bottom. I’ll save them for another piece.
