“Take your time and think about it and let me know how you feel about it” Kimberly wrote. It was way back in April and she was referring to a quilt she wanted me to make. But I didn’t have to think too long, actually as soon as I read her story, I knew I wanted to make the quilt.
You see, Kimberly lost a lot of weight in the past year and she asked if I would make a quilt from her old, “bigger clothes”. She wrote ” A lot of people say that they lose weight because they are unhappy–that was never me; I was happy when I was bigger and now I’m just healthier. (this is the part that really got me) ” I like the person I was then, and like the person I am now.” She said it felt strange to just be done with her old clothes and she wanted something to remind her of when she was not as healthy and also a symbol of all she’s accomplished.
I wanted to make the quilt because I loved to hear how Kimberly knows who she is and likes who she is. And how much she weighs has nothing to do with that.
I got Kimberly’s box of clothes sometime in September and told her I probably get to it in October. Well that obviously didn’t happen, but today, with no iron to work with, I emptied the box and began….
Keep your readers posted, Maria. We want pics of the first “layout”, and we love to see it grow into a wonderful quilt!

Oh, I see it is for Kimberly. I love her attitude. Hot Damn, she’s got it! This reminds me of my “I am not my body” potholder.
