Win A Photo By Jon Katz in the Common Thread Give-a-way

It’s time for the Common Thread Give-a-way again.  It happens the first Monday of every month.  We have five artists in the give-a-way and each month one of us gives away a piece of our work.  It’s Jon’s turn this month and he’s giving away his signed photo Morning Road.  It’s matted to fit into an 11×14 frame.

To enter this months Common Thread Give-a-way just leave a comment on my blog (usually you leave a comment on the blog of the artist giving something away, but Jon doesn’t have comments on his blog, so you can leave them on mine)  and I’ll pick a winner at random.  I’ll be announcing the winner on Sunday January 12th.

Next month it will be my turn to give away a piece of me art.  Then Rachel Barlow in March, Kim Gifford in April and Jane McMillen in June then back to Jon in July.  So check out the other artists and their blogs and see what you might be able to win in the coming months.

  1. I’d love nothing more than to walk down that road, so the next best thing would be to hang it somewhere that I’d be able to see it every day! I hope I win!

  2. Jon inspired me to buy a camera and every now and again I look through his photos and shake my head in wonder! How does he capture the “feeling”. I would love to put this at my work desk and imagine this is the road I travel each morning as opposed to the messy Garden State Parkway. Hope to see you all in February!
    Sincerely,
    Sandra

  3. This photo is just beautiful! I would love to have it in my home. It would make a great companion for the Red print I purchased a while back. Please enter me in the contest. Thanks!

  4. Jon has captured the late afternoon sunset so beautifully! Those afternoon winter skies have always been a favorite out of our south-facing windows.

  5. Why do dogs think cat poop is the tastiest thing ever? A friend of mine woke up to his dog licking his face then noticed the dog had cat litter granules all over her muzzle. Not a pleasant surprise!

Jon’s photos of sheep are some of my favorites.

  6. Hi Maria and Jon….. I’d love to win Jon’s beautiful picture… I would put it on what I call my “happy wall” that has two of your potholders on it, a great donkey calendar my sweet cousin gave for Christmas and a picture of my great niece that makes me laugh every time I look at it 🙂 Try to stay warm you two!!!

  7. Maria,

I love your website and am excited about the give away this month as I love Jon’s photography too. I love to sew also and admire your beautiful work.

  8. Maria, this is as good a time as any (since I can be entered into the drawing!) to tell you that you’re an inspiration to me. I’m at a “what’s next?” point in my life, and your courage to pursue your art gives me the idea that I could actually pursue mine, too. Thank you!

  9. I love these give aways! I always comment for a chance to win as the give aways are always something worth having. Wonderful photo, Jon. Good choice.

  10. Hi Maria,

I love the morning and evening photos Jon takes, especially with the black trees and the blue shades that always catch my breath.

    Happy new year.

  11. Ooohhhh what a lovely photo! Thank you for the opportunity to throw my name in the hat for a chance to win. Most of all, stay warm and toasty. If nothing else, this cold, snowy and icy blast is good for staying indoors and sewing! 🙂
    Cheers!

  15. Of course, my granddaughter and I would love to win this meaningful photo. She is off school today and reading your blog with me. “Let’s see what Maria is doing!” Dawn is a time of prayer for me. Thanks!

  16. A very generous giveaway. In both content and message. Jon always has an interesting insight when taking photos.

  17. That’s a beautiful photo! I hope you all are not too cold, no broken pipes etc. We had a short bout of below zero, but the nice thing about CO is its not damp and it gos back to the 40’s pretty fast. Hang in there, it will warm up soon! Cheers, Kate

  18. Maria – I would love to win this photo that Jon did called “Morning Road”. Looks like the photo was taken during warmer weather. I keep reading Jon’s blog to keep up with the crazy weather and how’s it affecting all your animals.

  19. Hi Maria & Jon-
I am sending warmth and love and smiles your way as we go into another frigid New England night. As I commented to Jon this AM, you guys fill my life with so much joy, I would love to be able to give some back. And I may have some news for you soon – my husband and I are looking at buying a small farm in Schoharie County, NY…. I miss the country and the hills and he needs space to putter and for his art; and projects and our 2 border collies would love it. Wish us well. And also, wish me well in winning Jon’s Morning Road in this month’s giveaway. It would look great in our old (180) new farmhouse!

  20. Would be honored to have a print of Jon’s to accompany your art work, a pillow and various Potholders. Thank you,

  21. Hello,
I am spending a few hours finishing “The Second Chance Dog” today. It is -40 here in Wisconsin. School is cancelled and as a teacher, this is happy news on a cold day. My boys are happily spending time with buddies. So…I read. I was a professional dancer for many years. Life changed and I was left with 2 little boys. So, I reinvented myself. I have always had dogs (except for now). I have always been pulled to creative people, color, lives touched with a bit of off-kilter creativity. I get up at 4:00 every morning. I see dawn arrive every day. I’ve never been on either your website or Jon’s until today. Maybe I’ll have beginner’s luck.

  22. Your photograph opened my heart and made me realize I am a part of nature, and not separate from it. I am grateful to feel the pleasure and beauty of nature. Nature’s beauty is a gift that cultivates appreciation and gratitude.

  23. Jon has such a wonderful connection with Nature it makes one sigh with contentment. Would truly be honored to be gifted with this photo.

  24. I love Jon’s photography. For the first time in my 60 years, I am thinking of getting a camera and trying to take some pictures of the beautiful place I live (in the Catskill Mountains). Thanks to both of you for you art.
