I remember Ed talking about, how for years, he wanted to create three characters from the Wizard Of OZ. But he said he didn’t have a reason to make them. He didn’t know how to explain to anyone who asked why he was making them.
But since Ed started to see himself as as the artist he is, he found the permission he needed in his desire to create.
Ed no longer has to question why he wants to make something, he just needs to do it. And if anyone asks what he’s doing or why, now he can tell them the truth, he’s an artist and this is his work.
I was curious how Ed felt about finally making the Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow after wanting to do it for so long. So I asked him and got his answer on video.
