Wool Too Short To Shear

Suzy and Kim

It looks like we may not be shearing the sheep this fall.

Because of a mix up in the schedule, we had them shorn early in June.  As of now, their wool just isn’t long enough to be able to use.  We usually have the sheep shorn at the Bedlam Farm  Open House.  But this year it’s early, the 6th and 7th of October.

So I’m thinking of not having them shorn twice this year, but waiting till next May.

That means no sheep shearing demonstration at the Open House and no yarn next spring.  But I do have a batch of wool from the past spring which should be ready sometime this fall.

I’ll keep an eye on the length of the wool and let you know what I decide.
