Like I wrote yesterday, I won’t be able to guarantee that my snails will be active at my Snail Party, but if they are, this is the kind of thing we might see.
This is Socrates, my Mystery Snail encountering my Horned Nerite Snail. A snail’s strongest senses are smell and touch. You can see in this video how both snails are using their antennas to navigate the situation.
The Horned Nerite Snail spends a lot of time hitching a ride on Emily, my other yellow and black striped Nerite snail. I’ve never seen her on any other snail. It makes me wonder if she knows Emily by smell.
