See that stripe of purple above Liam’s eye, that’s juice from a pokeweed berry. I thought about making dye from the pokeweeds, but it’s too time-consuming and the berries are poisonous to humans (especially diabetics) during the process.
So this time of year, the sheep dye a little bit of their own wool. It doesn’t last long, it’s more like a temporary tattoo or henna than what goes on at the Vermont Fiber Mill.
