Blue Earth, Together and Apart

I took all those pieces from yesterday and today I sewed them together.  When I had the two pieces above, I then sewed them together.

But no matter how I looked at them, it just didn’t work. I couldn’t imagine what came next.

So I took them apart again.

Now I had two pieces to work with and framed them both the same.

But once again I was stuck. No matter what I did, I couldn’t see them as a quilt that worked.   It was when I was outside letting the animals out to graze that I knew I had to once again disassemble what I had done.

If I had some smaller pieces to work with I could see the quilt coming together in my mind.

Back in my studio, I cut the smaller piece into four separate pieces. They definitely worked as one piece, but not for this quilt.

I have a better sense now of what will happen next, although I’m not exactly sure what it is. But I know I’ll be able to figure it out.
