“It squeezes my heart” wrote Veronica Hallissey about my streaming piece Freedom Woman. That’s the kind of comment you get when a poet likes your work. I wanted Veronica to have it. And I’ve been admiring her quilted pieces for a long time, so it seemed a perfect time for a trade. (Veronica, who is in her 80’s, is a quilter as well as a poet).
Veronica said she knew which piece of her I should have, so I trusted her to give me the right one. I was delighted when one of her winter scenes came in the mail. In her note she wrote, ” It is a gift of my heart.”
On her blog, Veronica says that she “finds her greatest peace making these winter scenes from the 18th and 19th century.” I don’t know if it’s true, but somehow I imagine that when Veronica is making one of them that she becomes a part of it. It’s an easy scene to step into, those faceless children can be anyone of us.
Jon said to let you know if we were interested in buying a print of his morning frost photo. I definitely am!! Thank you! You will let us know what you decido? It would make a beautiful holiday card.
I’ll email you Janet and give you a price on it. THanks
Veronica’s piece is just simply wonderful.
It’s wonderful Maria! It will look lovely on your studio wall (if that’s where you choose to hang it) and I’m sure will bring you joy every time you look at it.
