In the late fall, winter and early spring, I can use the gate at the back of our pasture, go over the stream, thanks to the Gulley Bridge, walk thought the mostly dry marsh, step over the fallen stone wall and find my way into the woods behind our house.
Once the grasses grow taller than me and the ticks come out in the late spring and summer, I have to get in my car and drive around the block to get to the same woods. Then I walk on the old dirt road, thought the woods, to avoid the ticks.
I so appreciate this time of year when I can walk out the door of our house, through the pasture and into the woods, without a road to guide me.
Love the sounds in this video.
All that dry grass this time of year…
