Common Thread Give-a-way, Today

Connecting Tree
Connecting Tree Pillow

This month’s giveaway is my pillow, Connecting Tree.  It’s about 12″x 11″ and is stuffed with Kapok.   All you have to do to try and win it is leave a comment on my blog.  I’ll pick a winner randomly and announce who it is on Thursday morning.

In case you’re new to the Common Thread Give-a-way, it happens on the first Monday of every month. (except for this month because I was on vacation last week)   There are five of us artists who participate and each month one of us gives a piece of our work away.   Next month I think it’s Nancy’s turn again,  she makes lampwork bead jewelry (I’m wearing a pair of her earrings today) and you can see some of her work on her website spinningglassstudio.com.  Or maybe I’ve got that wrong and it’s Kim’s turn.  Last time she gave away one of her photo collages on her website pugsnpics.com.  (And even if you don’t want to enter the contest, check out the  collage on Kim’s site today,  it made me laugh.)   I know it’s not Jane’s turn because just after Christmas she gave away one of her gorgeous pincushions.  She’s always got lots of new stuff brewing on her site littlehousehomeart.com.  And I’m very sure it’s not Jon’s turn.  Last month he gave away a photo of our chickens Fran and Meg at bedlamfarm.com.

So come back the first Monday of each month to any one of our websites and see what you have the chance of winning.  Good Luck!

  1. Maria, I love this pillow! I am a tree lover, nature lover! This pillow would be right at home in my living room. Oh, and orange is one of my favorite colors ! <3

  2. Maria,
I recently found your blog through Jenna and Jon and have throughly enjoyed checking in each day! I have always loved vintage textiles but you have motivated me to do something with them. Saturday I made a throw pillow cover from a piece of very old quilt. I have enjoyed it all weekend….rather than leaving it carefully folded in storage. I love your “Connecting Tree” pillow. It is not only beautiful but also filled with meaning. LOVE IT! Thank you for sharing your art and your life with us! Cindy

  3. Beautiful, Maria!!! it will go perfectly in my bedroom… just the color I’ve been looking for! You inspire me daily to sew… although I don’t create nearly what you do… I still have fun with it! thank you.

  4. Is that THE tree at the new Bedlam farm? Would love to add to the one made by you that is already on my bed.

  5. Such a pretty tree with stars for leaves! I wonder if that is the tree that left a star shaped hole in the snow the other day ~ I’ll have to send you a picture of it!

  6. Such a beautiful pillow , please enter me for the drawing. It would look lovely on my sofa. Very interested in the kapok filling also. Have a wonderful & creative day 😉

  7. Ooohhh it’s gorgeous…and in my favorite autumnal color, pumpkin orange (what can I say, I’m an October birthday gal)!

My “Maria Wulf Potholders” would love a pillow to join the family – count me in!

  8. I love the creativity all of your artwork but I must say, this pillow really resonates with me. We have a tree that houses a family of flying squirrels – the “heart” of your tree reminds me of this. And I love simple lights in my landscape plants which are represented by the stars hanging on the branches. And finally, the white “hosta” blooming at the root of your tree signifies a maternal spirit over life and relationships. You have so many special talents and I truly appreciate your generous spirit.

  9. Maria, this pillow is beautiful! I don’t care if I win, I just wanted to say that. I just bought myself a new sewing machine and I’m hoping to get creative! Your art is an inspiration!

  10. This pillow would go perfectly in my living room! Love both of your blogs which brought me to White Feather which I love as well.

  11. The Connecting Tree wants to live with me and my family. It is a stellar example of the evolution of your creativity. I look at The Pember Library every day and will never tire of it. Thanks for the chance to win.

  12. Your blog inspires me, Maria. My current work is scattered between an old garage, and upstairs room, and in various other nooks and crannies about our old house. Sometime this Spring, I, too, will have an official studio – all my puppet/felting supplies in one place! Your work is delightful! I would love to win the pillow!

  13. I am in the process of knitting a tree of life square for a wedding quilt. Your image is beautiful and inspiring.

  14. Oh, Maria, your pillow is beautiful. You are so multi-talented, I envy you. I started out my careers in life by being a writer ( something still close to my heart) but got blind sided a few times. I taught myself to sew so I can make dresses for little girls in Africa and Haiti, but never can I make such beautiful things as you.

I also want to give you a round of applause for taking that snake out of your house. I would not do that if someone offered me a million dollars. Anything else in this world, but NOT a snake.

You and Jon light up my life and I thank you both so much for your blogs and by the way, I do love Flo …she is such a sweetie.

Embrace your talent…you are young and have so much to offer. <3

  15. Hi, I love your pillows, and potholders and wall hangings, Maria, but as I’m a missionary in the Dominican Republic I never considered splurging on one. But I hope I win this one, it’s beautiful!

  16. Hey Maria…I’m really liking your pillows these days..so winning this one will get me started on these works of art I like so much!

  17. Hi Maria!
Another beautiful piece of art work! I would be thrilled to win this gorgeous pillow in the give-a-way! There are so many different things to see in this pillow design, I just love it! Thanks for another give-a-way Maria! You all are the best! — Vicki

  18. Love this one! Great color and I’m especially drawn to the lotus-like flower at the base of the tree.

  19. That beautiful pillow belongs on MY couch!!! I promise to keep my silly greyhounds away from it so it will remain beautiful (and slobber free.)

  20. Today I resigned from my job because I have a new one waiting for me in Wisconsin, the Big Woods. I’m excited about the move and sure this is the right place to plant some roots. This pillow reminds me of the mission. It would make a lovely reminder sitting on my couch.

  21. Hi Maria. That is a wonderful pillow to give away. Thanks! I enjoy reading your blog & I think your thread work and quilts are amazing.
