Common Thread Give-a-way, Today

Connecting Tree
Connecting Tree Pillow

This month’s giveaway is my pillow, Connecting Tree.  It’s about 12″x 11″ and is stuffed with Kapok.   All you have to do to try and win it is leave a comment on my blog.  I’ll pick a winner randomly and announce who it is on Thursday morning.

In case you’re new to the Common Thread Give-a-way, it happens on the first Monday of every month. (except for this month because I was on vacation last week)   There are five of us artists who participate and each month one of us gives a piece of our work away.   Next month I think it’s Nancy’s turn again,  she makes lampwork bead jewelry (I’m wearing a pair of her earrings today) and you can see some of her work on her website spinningglassstudio.com.  Or maybe I’ve got that wrong and it’s Kim’s turn.  Last time she gave away one of her photo collages on her website pugsnpics.com.  (And even if you don’t want to enter the contest, check out the  collage on Kim’s site today,  it made me laugh.)   I know it’s not Jane’s turn because just after Christmas she gave away one of her gorgeous pincushions.  She’s always got lots of new stuff brewing on her site littlehousehomeart.com.  And I’m very sure it’s not Jon’s turn.  Last month he gave away a photo of our chickens Fran and Meg at bedlamfarm.com.

So come back the first Monday of each month to any one of our websites and see what you have the chance of winning.  Good Luck!

  1. Oh my, Oh my, Oh my, they drop from the Kapok tree and float in the sky.
Why, why, why? So Maria could scoop them up and fill her pillow like a pie. Yummm.

  7. YOU inspire me to try a little harder to be creative with my quilting. Please don’t ever change or stop trying anything new.

  8. Wow Maria,
This tree has such beautiful symbols. The lotus as a symbol of creation sits at the heart of the tree and “grounds” it. I am a birder and think of how tree holes offer homes, “hospitality” to so many creatures, especially birds, the sky creatures. Then there are the branches reaching to heaven and bearing star fruit. Your lovely pillow offers much fruit for meditation. Lois

  9. I may be too late to enter for your give away but will try anyway. I enjoy seeing your work and what inspires you.

  10. I love this and really hope I am selected. We are leaving our home (Tree Tops) for a new home and it would remind me of it. I do appreciate your work and am really enjoying the potholders and pillow you made for us. Thank you for your inspiration!

  11. Hi Maria

    Gail from Sydney here.

Love the pillow – and your quilts and potholders too !

Follow you and Jon each day.

  12. Oh Maria, that pillow is stunning! I can’t imagine winning – but it would look right at home on my red couch!

And I did get a laugh form Kim’s collage. You look too cute with your giant pot holders and tiny hands. 😉

  13. Hi Maria,

Here I am again and I really really really hope I win this pillow. I love the colors, the stars hanging in the branches, and the lotus flower blooming at the base – all such powerful forces. Whomever wins will be one lucky person.

Thanks for all you do. You are inspiring me to get a new computerized sewing machine (mine is a 1941 straight stitch Singer!!!)

  14. What a lovely piece and I would love to be the one to win it — Particularly thursday when I have to have retina surgery after which I have to sit in a massage chair with my face parallel to the floor or laying flat in bed on my stomach for 6 days so the gas bubble they inject in my eye can close the hole that is trying to form.

So having something beautiful to look forward to would certainly be make those 6 days seem shorter.

  15. My goal is to have a collection of Maria Wulf pillows. This would get me on my way to a pair. I will pay the shipping if my name is chosen. Love the back of the pillow too. Very generous of you!

  16. Is this how we enter the give away? So fun to be able to see your wonderful work.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Renae

  17. I believe you are going through a “growth spurt”– much like children suddenly shoot up in height, you are suddenly leaping forward with your art. Each new pillow you make, I want to say to you “Yes! That is the most fabulous one yet!” and then soon after, another one comes along, even more wonderful. I hope you feel that creative energy flowing through you, a river of talent and creation. Bringing color and story and beauty to the world. It is amazing to watch it happening before our eyes.

  18. I think the trees you create are amazingly beautiful. How did you think of having it sprout or connect with stars? And I love that you have a flower as the root/center again. Winning it would make me very happy, and then I’d give it to my mom and make her happy 🙂

  19. It’s a beautiful pillow with its’ branches offering shelter for the stars.

I like the fabric choice on the back too!

  20. I love this pillow! I have never tried this before but would really like to have a chance to win. Thank you!
